High Intensity Focused Ultrasound (HIFU) Technology
HIFU treatment cures localized prostate cancer by focusing high intensity ultrasound on a defined area into the prostate. The concentration of ultrasounds turns up the temperature at the focal point until the gland‘s cells are destroyed with no damage of the surrounding tissues. The action is similar to the sun’s rays passing through a magnifying glass triggering a burn at the focal point. HIFU treatment is non-invasive(incisionless and radiation free). It has been used in humans since 1993 and has demonstrated its therapeutic efficacy. Treatment of localized prostate cancer by HIFU is recognized by urological medical associations from several countries.
